This popular literary event, running from Friday 29th January - Sunday 7 February, offers something for everyone. A variety of authors and storytellers will entertain, enthrall and inform you with poetry, fiction, memoirs and history, at the Festival Theatre and other venues.
Pitlochry is delighted to welcome Gyles Brandeth, Neil Oliver, Barbara Dickson, Joss Ackland, Elaine C Smith, Alasdair Gray, Don Patterson and Julia Donaldson (with Gruffalo too...) for this exciting festival.
The theatre will also host writing workshops for all budding literary talents, and the unique Station Bookshop will be selling second-hand books in the theatre foyer throughout the festival, raising money for charity. For Pitlochry accommodation, look no further than our Winter Mid-week Breaks for your visit.
You may have noticed on our website that Knockendarroch House has been recommended by Karen Brown Travel Guides. Plan A Valentine's Break in our Lovely Pitlochry Hotel
The snow has finally receded to the mountains, at least for the moment, and we can now see the first new shoots of spring bulbs pushing through the earth in the gardens of the hotel. This is traditionally the time when people think about decluttering and spring-cleaning, and here at Knockendarroch we've been equally busy with refurbishments to make your stay even more welcoming and comfortable.
On Tuesday 26 January the Pitlochry Festival Theatre will be hosting a Burns' Nicht. This is a hugely popular event so book as soon as you can. With a traditional supper and piper in the Festival Restaurant, the evening follows the time-honoured form and promises to be both entertaining and illuminating. Our midweek winter deals are just perfect for this event.
Here's a tip - don't leave Valentine's Day till the last minute, plan something special in advance and enjoy a secluded romantic break in our luxury hotel. Please have a look at our special offers page for current deals, with optional bubbly and chocolates on arrival.
With best wishes, Liz

Pitlochry Welcomes 2010 from Under a Blanket of Snow!
Happy New Year to you all, we wish you all the best for 2010. We're looking forward to a wonderful year ahead with a beautifully refurbished hotel for your comfort and enjoyment. Watch this space for further details...
The New Year's Day Ceilidh was unfortunately cancelled due to the atrocious weather conditions, and a few days on we are still under snow and ice! Luckily for us the Pitlochry Festival Theatre programme makes for good reading in front of the open fire. Highlights include Burns Nicht on Tuesday 26 January with a traditional Scottish supper, piper and an evening of entertainment, and the start of the Winter Words Festival on Friday 29th January. More of this in my next blog.
Best wishes, Liz
