Autumn in Pitlochry

Autumn is a great time to visit Pitlochry. The trees become a blaze of yellow, orange and red and every hue in between. I know there is a lot of science behind this phenomenon, but I just like to enjoy the beauty!

The autumn colours in Pitlochry truly are stunning, but that's not the only reason people love coming to the area. The award wining sound and light show, the "Enchanted Forest" returns from 7th to 29th October in the Explorer's Woodland Garden.

This Autumn also sees the return of the hugely popular "Whisky Galore - A Musical!" which runs at the Pitlochry Festival Theatre from 21st October to 12th November.

On top of all that, our Pitlochry Hotel has launched our Autumn Breaks from £74.00 per person, per night for dinner, bed and breakfast.

So come and enjoy the stunning autumn colours, a cosy log fire and an evening of full of of entertainment!

Walks around Pitlochry Hotels

The other day a guest asked me where the Corbett was and I had to confess that I didn't know what she meant. It turned out to the be big mountain that we look at every day - Ben Vrackie. Apparently, a Corbett is the next category down from a Munro, and has an altitude of between 2,500 and 3,000 feet. I then decided it was high time I climbed Ben Vrackie again and here is a photo from the top - not a beautiful Summer's day, but stunning nevertheless!

The 360 degree view took in Pitlochry Golf Course, Pitlochry Hotels and also far reaching views of Loch Tummel and beyond to Glencoe.

The walk reminded me how much there is to do and see in the area and inspired me to dust off my golf clubs and blow up my bicycle tyres!

Best wishes

Pitlochry Festival Theatre

The theatre season in Pitlochry has commenced and the six main plays run right through the Summer until 15th October 2011. The headline musical this year is My Fair Lady and our guests who have already seen the performance have given it raving reviews.

To ensure our guests have a relaxing stay, we offer pre-theatre dinner, ticket booking service and complimentary transport to and from the theatre for all six main plays throughout the Summer season. The full programme for the season can be found at Pitlochry Festival Theatre.

We hope that you will be able to stay at our Pitlochry Hotel and take in a show or two (or maybe six!).

Best wishes from all of us at the Knockendarroch.

Feels like Spring

Well, the days are getting longer and the bulbs are pushing through the soil - that must mean Spring is here! We still have some snow on the mountains tops but the days are sunnier (sometimes!) and the scenery is spectacular. It's a great time of year for walking and we find the "Walk Highlands" website a very useful source for the best walks in the area.

If you are thinking about visiting Pitlochry, we currently have a Spring break offer for £64 per person, per night for dinner, bed and breakfast for a minimum stay of 2 nights from Sunday to Thursday, up until 12th May.Visit our website for more details on our Pitlochry Spring Offers.

Wherever you are, the team at the Knockendarroch hope you have a very pleasant Spring.

Best wishes

Pitlochry in Winter

We opened our doors this weekend and it is good to see the hotel come alive again with the return of the team and welcome guests. The wonderful aroma of the chef's new creations give a hint of the gourmet delights yet to come. Speaking of new creations, we are rather pleased with our new website which we hope you agree is looking good.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Pitlochry Festival Theatre or "Theatre in the Tent in the Hills" as it was originally known. As Knockendarroch was the home of the Festival Theatre, we think this is the perfect place to stay for a theatre break, and there are some excellent delights yet to come in the Winter/Spring programme such as The Moscow Ballet, The Barber of Seville and the Jerry Lee Lewis story. The full Winter/Spring and Summer programmes can be found on our Pitlochry Theatre page.

Pitlochry Town is already quite busy and the slightly longer days and frost free mornings are beginning to tempt those winter-weary folks to take a well earned break. If you're looking for a little early season treat or perhaps a perfect base to access the great outdoors to ski, walk or cycle, then we are offering a 2 night winter mid week break from as little as £59.00 per person , per night for dinner, bed and breakfast.

So be our guest and take a seat by the log fire and enjoy a glass of wine from our new extended wine list and just relax. We look forward to welcoming you to the Knockendarroch.

Best wishes, Liz
