Feels like Spring

Well, the days are getting longer and the bulbs are pushing through the soil - that must mean Spring is here! We still have some snow on the mountains tops but the days are sunnier (sometimes!) and the scenery is spectacular. It's a great time of year for walking and we find the "Walk Highlands" website a very useful source for the best walks in the area.

If you are thinking about visiting Pitlochry, we currently have a Spring break offer for £64 per person, per night for dinner, bed and breakfast for a minimum stay of 2 nights from Sunday to Thursday, up until 12th May.Visit our website for more details on our Pitlochry Spring Offers.

Wherever you are, the team at the Knockendarroch hope you have a very pleasant Spring.

Best wishes

Pitlochry in Winter

We opened our doors this weekend and it is good to see the hotel come alive again with the return of the team and welcome guests. The wonderful aroma of the chef's new creations give a hint of the gourmet delights yet to come. Speaking of new creations, we are rather pleased with our new website which we hope you agree is looking good.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Pitlochry Festival Theatre or "Theatre in the Tent in the Hills" as it was originally known. As Knockendarroch was the home of the Festival Theatre, we think this is the perfect place to stay for a theatre break, and there are some excellent delights yet to come in the Winter/Spring programme such as The Moscow Ballet, The Barber of Seville and the Jerry Lee Lewis story. The full Winter/Spring and Summer programmes can be found on our Pitlochry Theatre page.

Pitlochry Town is already quite busy and the slightly longer days and frost free mornings are beginning to tempt those winter-weary folks to take a well earned break. If you're looking for a little early season treat or perhaps a perfect base to access the great outdoors to ski, walk or cycle, then we are offering a 2 night winter mid week break from as little as £59.00 per person , per night for dinner, bed and breakfast.

So be our guest and take a seat by the log fire and enjoy a glass of wine from our new extended wine list and just relax. We look forward to welcoming you to the Knockendarroch.

Best wishes, Liz

Fire and Ice

We decided to brave the weather and head off to the Scottish Crannog Centre for an evening's display of Fire and Ice on 4th December. We're certainly glad we did as it was an evening to remember.

A visiting master ice sculptor (who makes ice hotels!) taught some local artists to sculpt in ice. The local artists also made sculptures that were set alight which made for a fantastic visual display...which also gave out a lot of heat!

The photographs show the Crannog Centre and one of the fire sculptures.

Afterwards, there was storytelling in the Crannog in front of a lovely fire, followed by some fire dancing. Hats off to the Crannog Centre and the local artists who successfully pulled off their first Fire and Ice Festival. I've been so impressed with the Crannog that I've added it to our list of Things To Do in Pitlochry on our new website.

Best wishes, Liz

Pitlochry Hotels - Things to Do in August

Pitlochry has been enjoying an influx of visitors this summer, with a wide range of activities on offer for everyone. When you stay at Knockendarroch House you can be assured of a warm welcome, delicious food, and luxurious ambience.

During your stay, visiting Pitlochry Festival Theatre is a must. Enjoy 'Hooray for Hollywood', a tribute to film favourites, performed by John Scrimger and his quartet, on Monday 16th August. Alternatively, Tuesday 16th August features a performance by a rising star of the Scottish folk scene, Don Nicholson. One not to be missed!

Blair Castle provides the stunning backdrop for the International Horse Trials and Country Fair, a 4-day extravaganza running from 26th-29th August. Featuring lots of equine events, dog and falconry displays, and lots of things for all the family to do, it is sure to be a huge success.
